It’s here. Not the book sale itself, but its brand new website. Just in time for its 60th anniversary.
You know how every year you keep asking yourself (and your friends), “When is the Five Colleges Book Sale again?” And “When can I donate my books?” And “Where is the collection site?”
You can find all the info on the website (click here), easily and always accessible whenever you find that once again you’ve forgotten, and maybe can’t even remember where you first read about it. (Or is this just me?) Meanwhile, those precarious stacks of books waiting to be donated are multiplying in the mud room.
Donations, when: March 1 through March 24. Check the website for days and hours.
Donations, where: the former Olympia Sports Store, near Kohl’s between The Paper Store and Famous Footwear in the Upper Valley Plaza, West Lebanon NH
Book sale, when: April 11 through April 14 (Friday morning 4/12 for booksellers only)
Book sale, where: Lebanon High School, Lebanon NH
One of New England's largest used book sales, held every spring since 1962.
More than 40,000 carefully sorted books in good condition encompassing all genres, along with rare volumes, DVDs, BluRays, audiobooks, jigsaw puzzles and other oddities.
Revenue goes to scholarships for high school students from Vermont and New Hampshire to attend Mt. Holyoke, Simmons, Smith, Vassar, Wellesley.
You probably know the rules. All donations must be received by a volunteer, which means you can’t just dump your books at the donation center’s door. Books and other items need to be in good condition. No textbooks, no encyclopedias; other unacceptables, like that heavily-highlighted, margin-noted outdated travel guide, are listed here.
