Jarvis Green Receives Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts from Vermont Arts Council
Jarvis Green, Founding Artistic Director of JAG Productions, has just received the prestigious 2022 Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts from the Vermont Arts Council. In 2016, Green founded JAG Productions, a Black theater company based in White River Junction, Vermont and also, more recently, in New York City.
Green’s other recent accolades, according to the Council, include:
“In 2021, Green was one of only six millennials chosen worldwide, and the only representation from North America, to be featured in the Deloitte short film, “Resilience.” Green is a New England Foundation for the Arts National Theatre Project Advisor, a member of the Black Theatre Artist Council at the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York, and serves on the Board of Trustees for Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.”
Another artist, Larry Bissonnette of Williston, Vermont was also selected to receive the Governor’s Arts Award this year. Four other artists—Christal Brown, Eugene Uman, Robert Resnik, and Judy Dow—were celebrated for their work in other categories. It appears that Mr. Green is the only chosen artist from the Upper Valley.
Congratulations, Jarvis. Much deserved.
