Tacos de pescado y carnitas.

Tacos de Pescado. I have seldom met a fish taco I didn’t like. My Saturday lunch of fish on a soft corn tortilla with cabbage, crema, lime, pico and salsa (do not skip the salsa!) was no exception. It was fresh, flavorful, and made to order by the folks at theBox Food Truck just off the green in Hanover NH.

theBox was one of the first food trucks in the Upper Valley. It began years ago as a project created and staffed by Dartmouth students (no longer) who turned out some of the world’s best falafel and outsized chocolate chip cookies. Since then, theBox has gone through a few iterations, including one featuring a Mediterranean/shawarma menu, and several locations. With a new chef, it is now serving Mexican food. Catering is available.

Recently theBox has been stationing itself at various spots around the Upper Valley, including Hanover and Lyme. Its website doesn’t indicate where it might be when (though you can sometimes get a heads up through theBox’s Instagram account or the Lyme Listserv), which means when you see it—big white truck with green logo— you might want to grab the opportunity. Click here for a sample menu, and here to learn more about the story of the chef, Caleb Lara.
