Tuckerbox Now Open for Lunch
And new wine bar in White River Junction VT
There is no photo here of the much longed-for lavash, all puffy and steaming and fresh from the oven, because once it landed on the table we simply didn’t want to take the time needed to snap a picture. After tearing it into pieces to scoop up bitefuls of babaganoush and ezme, we paused just long enough to get a photo of one of our usual entrées—spice roasted chicken with side salad, hold the onions.
Five months after the flood that closed its doors, Tuckerbox is now open again (as of yesterday) for lunch, Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, during which both breakfast and lunch items will be served. As things get rolling, the management hopes to extend hours with an earlier opening time. Dinner service, which had resumed last October, remains from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Check Tuckerbox’s website and Facebook page for the most current information.
Further down South Main Street is Putnam’s Vine/Yard, a new wine bar (photo, below) occupying a space in The Freight House that was once a music venue. Same building as Elixir Restaurant, opposite end. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 am to 10:00 p.m, it is described on its website as: “Putnam’s vine/yard is a modern plant shop. I mean wine bar. Plus classes. And, tasting events.” Wines by the glass or by the bottle, local beer on tap. The Wine School provides classes that will educate you about the bubbly, rosé and other wines available to taste. Decor is green and cozy.
