Last week, I managed to pry a delectable bite of hot dog from my husband’s hands (just kidding, he graciously offered) from Upper Valley Dogz on Lebanon’s Miracle Mile near the Autozone. Travis Talbert has opened his hot dog cart with all beef and vegan dogs, and the dogs come with choices—“relish, kraut, banana peppers, jalapeño, ketchup, mustard, onions, brown mustard, Sriracha, whiz, mayo, bbq sauce . . . and celery salt.” (No chili, not permitted on a cart in Lebanon—who knew?) He and his cart were spotted also one day at Gardener’s Supply, and another at Colburn Park. Keep your eyes peeled or follow along to learn daily locations on this Facebook page , and stop and grab a dog.
It’s official: REDCAN in downtown White River Junction is now open for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, adding to the relatively meager number of restaurants in the UV who offer midday service. I spied, among other items, Korean bao buns and coconut shrimp on the menu. And deviled eggs. 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, then limited items available until 4:00 pm.
Alas and farewell: Brad Pirkey of Chef Brad’s Crazy Side in Quechee (next to the Fat Hat) recently put his food truck and café up for sale.
Looking to burn off a few calories without breaking a sweat? Courtesy of the Upper Valley Music Center, it’s the Big SING! on Saturday, May 17, 4:15 in Colburn Park, Lebanon: How many people can sing together in Colburn Park? Bring you and your voice and perhaps a singing friend. Details are here.
MJ’s Barbeque is located in the space also occupied by Roma’s Butchery in South Royalton, Vermont. Recently opened. Check out their social media for days and times and a few irresistible photos of the fare. From their FB page:
At MJ’s Barbecue, our main ingredient is simple: Love.
From our smoked meats to our house-made sides and everything in-between, we believe nothing beats the flavor of locally sourced, high-quality ingredients crafted from scratch right here in our kitchen. When you eat with us, you're tasting food made with care, purpose, and pride.
The beloved Dairy Twirl is still marked “Temporarily Closed” on its Facebook page. Mac’s Maple has opened for the season and is serving its incomparable maple creemees. Definitely waffle cone. Sprinkles or no?
