UV Baroque, Upper Valley Music Center: Quick Notes
Catch a dress rehearsal, upgrade your lunchtime
Upper Valley Baroque is sold out. If you’ve been to one of their excellent performances, it will come as no surprise that tickets to both of their upcoming presentations titled “Choral Gems” (October 21/22) are already gone. The good news: you can still hear them. Upper Valley Baroque has opened up its dress rehearsal to the public on October 20, 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hanover, NH.
“The dress rehearsal is a full performance of the concert. After running through each piece, Artistic Director Filippo Ciabatti works with the musicians to make final adjustments. Those who attend the dress rehearsal will hear the entire concert, and will see and hear Filippo and the musicians work together. Many people enjoy seeing and experiencing this creative and collaborative process.”

Meanwhile, lunchtime in arts-filled Lebanon is about to get more musical. Upper Valley Music Center has just announced a new series of monthly concerts, free to the public, launching on Thursday, October 12. The series, titled “A Little Lunch Music,” will be offered on weekdays at lunchtime. Concerts will take place at Upper Valley Music Center’s Bach Room, the recital room in the historic Kendrick-Wood home.
According to Ben Van Vliet, UVMC’s Executive Director, A Little Lunch Music supports the organization’s goals to provide transformative teaching experiences and to create a welcoming environment. “Sharing music in performance is an important way for our faculty to connect with and inspire students, and thanks to our generous supporters we’re able to offer this series to the community for free.”
The inaugural concert is by UVMC’s newest addition to the faculty, harpist Rachel Clemente (photo, top), with a program of traditional Scottish music and original compositions. Rachel earned a degree in traditional Scottish music from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, and won the U.S National Scottish Harp Championship in 2016 and the Princess Margaret of the Isles Clàrsach Competition (USA) in 2021.

Ben Kulp, Cello: Thursday, November 17, 12 pm
